Saturday morning I woke up with a cold- bummer! I had planned to get some good workouts in this weekend, but instead visited with friends and family. Don’t worry I had hand sanitizer and tissues with me the whole time and I plan to make up the workouts this week!
That morning I went to Ali’s house to visit and check out her favorite coffee shop – Flat Black. I had a delicious soy latte – very smooth tasting espresso, which helped fuel our shopping trip to Marshall’s and Ocean State Job Lot(OSJT).
OSJT in Quincy had a HUGE stock of Bob’s Red Mill products- literally an entire HALF of an aisle- from polenta to gf pizza crust and quinoa! I stocked up on all my favorite goodies for a little less than half the price I usually pay for them. Woo hoo!
That evening we met our friend JJR, her sister Elizabeth, and cousin Jen for a dinner at Think Tank. It’s a hip new place in Cambridge. They were super accommodating to my gluten free ‘ness. Our waitress came back to me with a list from the chef on what I could eat and couldn’t eat on the menu! Thank you!
I ordered an array of orange/gluten free foods for the table and for my dinner including: sweet potato fries, Sriracha wings(spicy), and carrot soup! Others ordered the brick chicken, steak, duck and the burger. It was fun to to be able to try everything!
Think Tank has a PHOTOBOOTH! Ha!
This morning, both Dave and I were not feeling our best About 10 minutes later we went to take a walk with Luna and remembered after closing the front door that we had locked ourselves out! Thankfully our trusty friend Lindsay has a key and came over to let us back in . Note to self: always keep an extra key hidden somewhere!
We then drove up to Exeter to have lunch with Dave’s parents at Margarita’s. At Marg’s they bring the table chips and spicy salsa when you sit down. We decided to order some gauc to accompany our salsa! It was pretty good.
I ordered the roasted vegetable zarape: roasted vegetables baked in salsa, covered in cheese and served
with corn tortillas for rolling. I also got a side order of black beans. It was pretty good, but WAY too much food!!
When we got home little Miss Luna was very excited to see us- so much so she ate her elephant!
Then, this evening we got together with our friend’s Nyssa & Ben and Ali & Jay for a potluck dinner. Each couple brought something to the table:
- Ali & Jay: kale and potato soup
- Nyssa & Ben: all the fix-ins salad
- Meg & Dave: butternut squash mac & cheese
Nyssa set a beautiful table for us!
We started with the kale & potato soup. It was so delicious -I plan to make some tomorrow!
Nyssa & Ben had put together an amazing array of salad fix-ins- thanks you two!
Look how bright my plate is with vegetable colors!
The boys and Luna went straight to sports after dinner, while the ladies did the dishes!
Dave and I are feel so blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family in our life! Thank you all for making our weekend special!

This looks like a perfect weekend! Luna looks so much like my pup, Sadie. Especially with that naughty look post-toy destruction. ps – I grew up outside of Exeter too. So many similarities
I am an Ocean State Job Lot fiend. There is even an OSJL tag on my blog. They can’t be beat for pantry staples. I’ve never been to the one in Quincy, I usually go to the one in Danvers on the North Shore. Happy to know I’m not the only one who appreciates the store.
I love Ocean State!
It’s great that they were so easy going about your gluten free diet! I love the photo booth as well.
You have to trust the cook!
