Tonight I’m listening to Adele, my new favorite singer, while trying to get a spin mix ready for my 7am class!
I think it’s really important to have a good, slightly funky, song playing when people walk in the to my class. It’s just too much to have hip hop blasting at 6:45 in the morning. So, tomorrow I’m playing this song by Adele- Best for Last! It’s fantastic!
I make a new mix every class, so EVERY class I have a sheet where I write out our workout ‘plan!’ It makes my life so much easier when I’m teaching!
I plan out every race pace and speed burst – so that it matches the time in the song perfectly! I have a solid 20-24(full) class every week so I seem to be doing something right It’s all about planning!!
I also try and download music when I can.
Since this is a special celebratory week I have four NEW songs for class tomorrow:
- Adele- Best for Last
- Britney- Til the World Ends
- Diddy- Coming Home ( don’t underestimate a GREAT hill song!)
- J. Lo- On The Floor
I also made a batch of mookies for them if they work hard. If not- I’m giving them to the staff at the gym
For dinner last night, I made the boys white bean chili with 94% lean ground turkey- so of course I had it for breakfast this morning! It kept me going all day through a quick trip to NH to see Dave’s dad and a conference call with our wedding caterer this afternoon!
Mid-day I noshed on a fig and almond bar, a pear and some carrot sticks.
While Dave took little Luna for a walk- I whipped a mac n’ cheese!
In our baked mac n’ cheese tonight: brown rice and millet breadcrumbs , mix of 50% and sharp cabot, Tinkyada gf shells, al fresco apple chicken sausage, an egg, and lactose free milk. Yummy!
Our green side dish- kale sautéed in olive oil and garlic!
Dinner’s served!!
What is your favorite song to workout to right now?

Congrats on your match! You must be thrilled. I am a big Adele fan myself but, for workouts, I have recently become hooked on Mumford and Sons and Kid Cudi. And, yes, we must do a pup meet-up soon. I’ve never been to the Biscuit and have been dying to try it!
I think we should for sure!
Congratulations again. You have to get Adele’s first album. If you like her, check out Kate Nash too. I love her.
Thanks so much!
My elliptical mix HAS to include: Accidentally in Love (Counting Crows), Jumpin Jumpin (Destiny’s Child), Bang Bang (K’Naan and Adam Levin) and Birds Fly Away (Theresa Andersson). Hope you like some of them!
Congrats on your internship placement – awesome!!
I have recently become a big fan of Adele too! A few favorite songs on my running playlist right now include: Forget You by Cee-Lo, Born this Way by Lady Gaga, Here in My Arms by Hellogoodbye, Good Life by OneRepublic, and Paper Planes by MIA (my feet always run perfectly to the beat of that song!). I am really enjoying your blog – so many of your recipes look delicious, and I’ve bookmarked them!
